Former Premier League defender Jose Enrique has stated that Manchester City star Rodri is currently the best number 6 in world football.
The 26-year-old is the talk of the town at the moment following his clutch performances for City and Spain.
Rodri scored the winner in the Champions League final against Inter, after which he was named Man of the Match and also Player of the Tournament.
He then put in two fine performances for Spain to win the UEFA Nations League, and was handed the Best Player award.
But it isn’t just recently that Rodri has excelled.
He has been sensational all season, and probably for the last two years straight.
Rightly, Rodri is now being talked up as a potential contender for the Ballon d’Or.
Jose Enrique says Manchester City star Rodri is the best number 6 in the world
Yesterday evening, former Liverpool and Newcastle United full-back Enrique took to Twitter to make a claim about Rodri.

He wrote ‘Best number 6 in the world by far’, as he shared an image of Rodri holding each of the Treble trophies and the Nations League trophy.
It is certainly difficult to think of a player who holds a candle to him right now.
Manchester City ace Rodri is absolutely the best holding midfielder in the game today
Enrique is absolutely right – Rodri is the best holding midfielder in world football at the moment.
There is just no one out there who can do what he does, at least as consistently as him.
Rodri is amazing at setting the tempo of games. His passing is often immaculate, with his range allowing him to go short, medium or long. One of the more underrated parts of Rodri’s game is that he breaks the lines a lot with his passing.
The lazy view is that Rodri just completes a lot of sideways, safe passes. This simply isn’t true, he is always scanning to try and find a Kevin De Bruyne or an Ilkay Gundogan in the spaces.
Rodri is also incredibly intelligent with his positioning.
You very rarely see him scrambling on the pitch. He’s usually exactly where he needs to be to stop attacks.

Should he get slightly caught out, then he will make an early foul in a good area. He’s good at avoiding bookings, which is genuinely a great skill.
And then of course, Rodri does have the spectacular in his locker.
If City are struggling to break a team down, there is always the potential to pass to Rodri to lash one into the top corner.
The man can just do it all, and he could easily surpass the likes of Fernandinho and Nigel De Jong as City’s best ever defensive midfielder when he leaves the club later in his career.
