Kevin De Bruyne is going to be a hard player for Manchester City to replace.
With nine seasons under his belt at the Etihad Stadium, the 33-year-old is about to enter the final year of his current contract at City.
Despite recent transfer links to Saudi Arabia, Pep Guardiola recently said that De Bruyne would not be leaving the Manchester club this summer.
With the prospect of seeing the Belgian leave City as a free agent next summer, one journalist has shed some light regarding who the Premier League champions could turn their attention to in terms of being a long-term heir for De Bruyne.

Man City eyeing Jamal Musiala as potential Kevin De Bruyne replacement
In a recent Fact Files column (via Caught Offside) journalist Christian Falk had this to say about City’s interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala and how it links with De Bruyne.
He said: “There is an idea at Manchester City to try and sign him as the successor of Kevin De Bruyne.
“I don’t know if the Belgian international will leave this summer or in the next, but the story of De Bruyne at Manchester City is coming to an end.”
Musiala would be a star signing for City
Back in April, it was reported by The Guardian that City had Musiala as a transfer target for this summer window.
With 163 senior appearances for Bayern under his belt, the 21-year-old has scored 43 goals and delivered 31 assists along the way.
In the recent 2024 European Championship, Musiala bagged three goals in five games, earning himself the joint-sixth-highest overall performance rating in the tournament according to WhoScored.
Having shown how capable he is when it comes to delivering goal contributions from midfield, it’s easy to see why City have sounded the German out as being a potential replacement for De Bruyne, which we think would be a start signing for the club.
