It has been revealed that Ederson Moraes has suffered a thigh injury that could keep him out for up to a month.
After the Manchester City number one was initially injured against Liverpool, it seemed like the knock was nothing too serious as he got back up on his feet soon after receiving treatment.
However, soon after, Ederson was down on his feet and asked for treatment before he was hooked off by Pep Guardiola on Sunday.
Ederson could be injured for four weeks and miss Arsenal clash
Fortunately for City, Stefan Ortega deputised for the Brazilian international with aplomb against Liverpool, with John Stones hailing the German as an “incredible ‘keeper” and praising him for making “intelligent saves.”
However, the £34.9 million (The Guardian) man’s importance to this Sky Blues side can never be overestimated, especially during the Premier League title run-in.
But Daily Mail journalist Jack Gaughan was the bearer of bad news for Manchester City as he provided an update about Ederson Moraes’ latest injury.

“Ederson is a major doubt for Man City’s game against Arsenal at the end of the month. Set for three to four weeks out with a thigh injury”, he wrote on X.
Stefan Ortega should view this as a chance to snatch the number one spot away from the Brazilian
Manchester City are lucky that while an injury to Ederson is a blow for them, they have Stefan Ortega in the ranks, who Pep Guardiola described as “really, really good” in possession back in October.
In November, Ortega admitted that he would not have joined Manchester City if he had no chance of becoming the club’s first-choice goalkeeper one day.
Now, the 31-year-old has the chance to do so, especially as he could start for City against Arsenal; a game where anything less than a win for the defending champions could put their title ambitions in jeopardy.
It was recently claimed that the former Arminia Bielefeld shotstopper was keen on becoming a number one elsewhere and his departure in the summer seemed likely, even though City had offered him a contract extension.
If Ortega impresses enough during Ederson’s absence and increases his chances of becoming the side’s mainstay in goal, perhaps he may have no reason to leave the club in the summer.
