Manchester City have been extensively linked with a move for Dani Olmo this summer.
Over the past few weeks, the RB Leipzig midfielder has been mentioned with a move to the Etihad Stadium.
In fact, earlier this month, Bild reported that Pep Guardiola viewed Olmo as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.
Now though, after a recent update emerged regarding the Manchester club’s apparent pursuit of the Spaniard, a journalist has shared some extra details in response.

Journalist shares Dani Olmo update amid reports of Man City bid
After it was recently reported that City had made an offer to sign Olmo, journalist Philipp Hinze said this on the matter in a recent post shared on his X account.
He said: “Reports about a Man City offer to RB Leipzig for Dani Olmo. According to our information, this is not true. As of now, there is no City offer to Leipzig.
“Barca is currently leading the race. As reported: The first offer was rejected. Leipzig have informed Barca that they need to significantly increase their offer.
“Conditions and package do not match. It continues. Still of interest to the German club as an Olmo replacement: Francisco Conceição.”
City don’t seem too eager to land Olmo transfer
In 148 appearances for his current club, the 26-year-old has scored 29 goals and delivered 34 assists, highlighting how useful he can be in terms of providing goal contributions from midfield.
With Hinze now saying that City actually haven’t made any sort of offer for the Leipzig star, who Paul Merson says he was amazed by in the recent 2024 European Championship, this suggests to us that despite Barcelona’s interest in him, the Blues aren’t too eager to land a deal for him.
Moving forward, with there still being some weeks left before the summer transfer window closes, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with Olmo in terms of what his next step could be.
