It has been claimed that Manchester City target Jude Bellingham has finally decided to favour a transfer to Real Madrid.

It has been previously reported that Pep Guardiola himself was keen on the 19-year-old’s arrival in the summer.

However, it seems like Jude Bellingham always had his sights set on a transfer to Real Madrid instead of Manchester City.

Since joining Borussia Dortmund in 2020, the teenager has been billed to become one of, if not the outright best midfielder in the world.

With Ilkay Gundogan’s current contract set to expire in the summer and Bernardo Silva’s future being unclear, it made sense why City were reportedly interested in his signature.

However, MARCA have reported that despite Manchester City presenting a ‘dizzying’ offer that was higher in comparison to Real Madrid, Jude Bellingham has decided to favour a transfer to the latter.

Additionally, it has been detailed that while Los Blancos are finalising the last few details before sealing the deal, the only ongoing obstacle is their insistence to sign the Englishman for a fee in the region of £88 million to £105 million.

While Dortmund’s demand remains £123.3 million so far.

MCN View: Bellingham was never an instant fit at the Etihad Stadium

As outstanding a talent as Jude Bellingham is, it is not the end of the world for the Premier League champions that he may have decided to prioritise a transfer to Real Madrid instead.

Considering Bellingham would have likely occupied Gundogan’s role for the time being had he signed for City, there remain question marks over whether he can control the game from deeper areas and whether he has the passing volume to thrive anywhere outside an advanced midfield position.

While the England international would likely have been transformed by Pep Guardiola, as is the case in most instances, the Sky Blues could simply bring in a more natural fit in any case next season.
