Pep Guardiola has coached many players during his time in charge of Manchester City.

Specifically, having been appointed as City’s manager back in 2016, the Spaniard has overlooked 480 games across all competitions using 90 players in total along the way.

In fact, the 53-year-old has given many players from City’s academy their senior debuts since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium.

His latest debutant was 16-year-old defender Kaden Braithwaite, who started in the Manchester club’s recent 2-1 win over Watford in the Carabao Cup.

After completing 76 minutes of the game, the youngster shared some details on what the City boss told him prior to his senior debut.

Kaden Braithwaite on what Pep Guardiola said to him before Man City debut

Speaking in a recent interview shared on the club’s official website after Tuesday’s match, Braithwaite said this when asked what Guardiola said to him before he made his debut for the Blues.

He said: “He just said he doesn’t mind if I make mistakes and stuff like that. As long as I work hard and run, that’s all that he cares about.”

Guardiola should be impressed with Braithwaite’s performance against Watford

In addition to sharing what Guardiola told him before the match, Braithwaite also said in this post-match interview that it was a dream come true for him to make his senior City debut.

During his time on the pitch, the teenager completed 62 of the 65 passes he attempted as well as making two tackles, one interception and won three of the four ground duels he was involved in.

This shows that Guardiola should be pleased by what he saw from the youngster in his first appearance for City’s senior side.

Moving forward, if Braithwaite continues to work hard, he could find himself getting some more minutes in the first team given the significant number of games City could end up playing this season.
