Manchester City take on Fulham today – and it could be a chance for Kevin De Bruyne to assure his first ever Premier League Player of the Month award.

Pep Guardiola’s side can finally leapfrog Arsenal in the Premier League table with a win over the Cottagers.

City produced an amazing performance in midweek over the Gunners to get to just two points behind.

And the man who ran the show at the Etihad was De Bruyne, who helped himself to two goals and one assist.

It was a devastating display from the Belgian maestro, whose partnership with Erling Haaland is going from strength to strength.

De Bruyne is enjoying a fantastic April.

So far this month, he has scored three goals and made five assists against Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester City and Arsenal.

He’s absolutely flying at the moment, and it’s a fantastic opportunity now for him to win a first ever Player of the Month award in the Premier League.

Somehow, De Bruyne has never actually won one before, despite being in the Premier League with City since 2015.

It is remarkable to think that a player of his quality has never won the award before.

It remains a very weird fact that the £55 million star doesn’t have one to his name. It is even more strange when you consider he’s won two Premier League Player of the Year awards.

So it’s a brilliant chance for De Bruyne to play well and assure he gets that first award.

Kevin De Bruyne probably deserves Premier League Player of the Month without even needing to face Fulham

Realistically, De Bruyne has been that good that he may already be in pole position for Player of the Month for April.

But if he can turn in another masterclass today then the award will surely be his.

Eight goal contributions in four games already is some going.

There have been occasions in the past where De Bruyne really deserved to win. Hopefully he finally breaks his duck this time.

He, of course, doesn’t need these kind of accolades for everyone to recognise his quality. But it would just be nice all the same.
