Manchester City have produced many fantastic players over the last decade or so.

The club have been a dominant force in English football, with Pep Guardiola overseeing the most successful period in the club’s history.

Fans have been royally treated, with many world-class footballers gracing the hallowed turf at the Etihad Stadium.

Many millions of pounds have been spent, but supporters have watched some extraordinary talents managed by Roberto Manicini, Manuel Pellegrini and Guardiola.

But there’s one player on the books at City at the moment who’s looking every inch a superstar, but didn’t cost a single penny.

That’s because Phil Foden came from the academy, and the youngster is the subject of a new documentary from the club.

Manchester City have released one documentary about last season’s title win, allowing supporters to watch interesting behind-the-scenes footage.

Guardiola reacting to Rodri’s red card against Nottingham Forest is in there, as is Erling Haaland sharing his thoughts about Stefan Ortega’s save from Heung-min Son.

But City have also released a documentary about Foden, touching on his rise through the ranks to becoming the 2023/24 Premier League Player of the Season.

Foden was seemingly always destined to reach this point given his incredible natural ability and work ethic.

There are some interesting interviews in the documentary, with John Stones and Kevin De Bruyne the only two players from the current squad to speak about him.

And in the eyes of De Bruyne, Foden could potentially see a stand named after him one day at the Etihad Stadium.

He said: “It’s crazy to see at this age how incredible he is, you know?

“But if everything goes the way it’s expected, he’s probably going to have a stand at the end of his career I guess. You’ll probably have a whole stadium for him!”

Foden could get a stand at Man City

Phil Foden one day having a stand named after him by Manchester City is an incredibly nice prospect to consider.

He’s a boyhood fan and the club have been a major part of his life from a very early age.

He’s enjoyed a remarkable career so far already, having already won Young Player of the Season twice, and now the main award – but the best is still yet to come for Foden.

He should now be targeting the Ballon d’Or after seeing his teammate Rodri win recently.

Phil Foden for Man City (2017-present)
Appearances – 284
Goals – 90
Assists – 54
Trophies won – 17

There’s also the Manchester City captaincy for him to potentially look at a bit later down the line.

De Bruyne made his prediction about Foden half-jokingly, but the Belgian might just be on to something with Foden having a stand named after him one day.

If his trajectory continues like it currently is, there’s no reason why it can’t happen considering how decorated he’ll be.
