Kyle Walker says Man City have a player who is actually in the same bracket as Lionel Messi

Kyle Walker believes Kevin De Bruyne is in the same bracket as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as a player.

The Manchester City right-back was speaking to FIFPRO about the 32-year-old, who continues to stun fans and pundits alike with his otherworldly talent.

Recently, Gary Neville described the Belgian international as “one of the great, great players in the Premier League.”

The Manchester United legend also emphasised that the former VFL Wolfsburg midfielder’s delivery and striking of the ball is better than the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and David Beckham.

The decorated creator’s standing in the game has become a hot topic ever since he singlehandedly dismantled Newcastle last Saturday, with Eddie Howe also acknowledging him as “world-class” after the contest.

Kyle Walker gave Kevin De Bruyne the ultimate compliment by putting him in the same category as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Kevin [De Bruyne] is just Kevin. I think there’s only certain players, the likes of [Lionel] Messi, [Cristiano] Ronaldo that can probably, you can say are in the same bracket with Kevin. You know, Kevin goes into that bracket for me”, he told FIFPRO.

Walker continued, “I think even last night or the other night when he came on against Newcastle, you feel that buzz, you feel that energy, you feel that excitement and it gives you a lift. And I think that’s the best form of Kevin, when he’s on the ball, playing passes you don’t think are actually visible to play but he seems to see them and unlock a pass, and normally gets a goal or an assist..”

It’s safe to say that De Bruyne would be flattered by the praise afforded to him by his teammate, considering he has been mentioned in the same breath as arguably two of the greatest players to have ever graced the sport.

Kevin De Bruyne is right up there

Considering both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are no longer playing in Europe, Kevin De Bruyne can rightly be viewed as a superior player to them currently, in our view, as opposed to being in the same bracket as them, as Kyle Walker said.

With the legendary pair no longer dominating football as they used to at their peak, players like De Bruyne and Haaland have taken their places as arguably the two best players in the world.

Names like Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. can also be mentioned in the same breath but Kevin De Bruyne is either the best or only behind Erling Haaland as the best player in the world, in our view.

With all that the treble-winner has achieved, both recently and over the years, it is only right that he is revered to such an extent.
