Manchester City have had a reasonably strong start to their 2024/25 season so far.
Last season saw City become the first side to win four consecutive Premier League trophies.
This time around, Pep Guardiola has seen his team win five and draw two of their top-flight matches in their new campaign.
In addition to that, as well as securing their place in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup, the Blues have picked up a win and a draw in the league phase of the Champions League.
Now that another international break has arrived, a key figure in international football has shared his reaction to one of City’s standout matches from the season so far.

Lee Carsley admits he was captivated by Man City’s match against Inter Milan
When asked in a recent press conference which football matches have caught his attention recently, Lee Carsley said this in response.
He said: “There’s a lot of good games I’ve watched recently. It was really good watching the City [vs] Inter Milan game the other day.
“That was a really interesting game to watch tactically. The challenge that our players get playing in the Champions League, we benefit so much from that from an England perspective.
“I just thought it was the way that Milan build, it was very difficult to press them at times and City working out how to do it was, from a coaching point, it was brilliant to watch.”
How did City fare against Inter?
City welcomed Inter to the Etihad Stadium for their first Champions League fixture of the season and the first time they had faced off against the Italian side since beating them in the 2022/23 final.
With this recent match ending 0-0, City ended the game with 60% possession and a total of 22 shots at goal.
In comparison, with their 40% possession, Inter registered 13 shots at the home side’s goal.
This then led to City dropping points at home in a Champions League group game for the first time in five years.
After the game, Chris Sutton said that City put in an unusual performance against Inter due to them not being particularly slick in an attacking sense.
Now that Carsley has pinpointed this match as being particularly interesting to him from a tactical point of view, this highlights the managerial prowess that Guardiola and Filippo Inzaghi showed through their respective sides.
