Manchester City wonderkid Matty Warhurst has now been named in the England U17 World Cup squad.
The news was revealed on England’s official website.
So, what is the situation involving Manchester City prospect Matty Warhurst? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the 17-year-old has been on fire so far this season.
Warhurst has scored six goals in just five U18 Premier League appearances this term, while also providing one assist.
Now, the Staylybridge-born talent has been named in Ryan Garry’s 21-man England squad for the U17 World Cup in Indonesia as a result of his superb displays.

The England U17 squad kick off their World Cup campaign on November 11th with a clash against New Caledonia, where Warhurst and his teammates will hope to emulate the likes of Phil Foden by winning the tournament.
Manchester City prospects Lakyle Samuel, Joel Ndala and Justin Oboavwoduo will also travel with Warhurst to Indonesia after being named in Garry’s squad too.
Who is Manchester City wonderkid Matty Warhurst?
If you haven’t already heard about Warhurst, we expect you will soon.
The England U18 international was recently described as Manchester City’s best young talent by the Guardian’s Jamie Jackson.
That specific claim was made as Warhurst found himself on the Guardian’s coveted Next Generation list.

Jackson wrote: “Billed as a traditional No.9 by Manchester City, the Stalybridge-born player has not stopped scoring in his opening campaign for the club’s U18 side.
“Tall and pacy, Warhust can also operate wide to provide width and is lethal with free-kicks at range. This flexibility may be vital if he is to break into the first team picture, with the likes of Erling Haaland ahead of him.”
If the teenager can make headlines in Indonesia this month, he could return to Manchester City as a hero with a World Cup under his belt.
