Loan Watch: Man City gems James McAtee & Tommy Doyle score for Sheffield United vs Sunderland

As Sheffield United beat Sunderland 2-1 on Wednesday night, Manchester City loanees, James McAtee (20 years old) and Tommy Doyle (21 years old) got on the scoresheet.

The pair, who are both City academy products have turned heads with their displays in the Championship this season.

After all, the latter even won the Man of the Match award against Tottenham Hotspur in his side’s victory in the FA Cup.

Now, Manchester City duo James McAtee and Tommy Doyle rescued a trailing Sheffield United side in their latest win against Sunderland.

For the equaliser, as shared by Sheffield United themselves, Manchester City talent James McAtee carried the ball inside the box before using his wand of a left foot to level the scores against Sunderland but Tommy Doyle managed to outdo his teammate.

The latter stepped up for a free-kick from quite a wide angle and yet managed to put the ball into the back of the net to ensure his side get the all-important victory against the 12th placed side.

Manchester City have two gems at their disposal

While Phil Foden and Rico Lewis in particular have displayed why the Sky Blues have one of the best academies in the country, their conveyor belt of talent does not planning on producing wonderkids anytime soon.

After all, James McAtee and Tommy Doyle have been two of the biggest bright sparks at Sheffield United this campaign, as proven by their masterful showings against Sunderland, which is excellent news for the club.

With the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan ageing, whilst Bernardo Silva seems destined to leave at some point, the youthful duo could become first-team players in the near future.
