What Dominic Solanke told Nathan Ake on Instagram after Manchester City beat Fulham

Branded as ‘almost perfect’ by Jamie Carragher, the Dutchman’s goal stirred up controversy due to Manuel Akanji obstructing Bernd Leno’s view.

However, Ake showcased that he remains a huge aerial threat whilst being unsurprisingly reliable when deployed at left-back this season.

“Love it!”, he commented on Instagram.

Clearly, the pair still share a tight bond from their time at Bournemouth, as they spent the entirety of the 2019/2020 campaign in tandem.

Nathan Ake deserves all the praise in the world

Dominic Solanke perhaps needs no telling about the quality Nathan Ake possesses, who was once again as solid as a rock in defence for Manchester City against Fulham.

But during his initial two seasons at the Etihad Stadium, many often questioned why City had even signed Ake as well as why the latter was even at the club.

The popular opinion was that the Dutch international was simply not at the level to operate for arguably the best team in the world.

Cut to last season and Nathan Ake led Manchester City’s revival after the World Cup and played an instrumental role in their historic tremble triumph.

And even this campaign, Ake’s levels have not dropped as his persistence and work ethic have turned him into a world-class defender.
