PSG are reportedly set to make Luis Enrique their new head coach – and that might point to a move for Man City star Aymeric Laporte for the French champions.
Despite winning Ligue 1, PSG sacked Christophe Galtier earlier this month.
Bosses at the Parc des Prince clearly felt this wasn’t enough.
Ultimately, the goal for PSG is to win the Champions League – something they have never done before.
Galtier bit the bullet after just one season at the club, and the hunt has been on for a new man.
And it looks like their search could be coming to an end, with former Spain boss Enrique set to take over.
Enrique has been out of the game since leaving the national team after they fell short at the World Cup.
Reportedly, PSG are now just finalising a deal. And should he take over as he expected, then don’t be surprised if he comes calling for City defender Laporte…
Luis Enrique loves Aymeric Laporte and might fancy a summer swoop for PSG
Laporte has been widely tipped to leave City this summer.
He was way down the pecking order last term, with Pep Guardiola preferring the likes of Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake and John Stones ahead of him.

He’s been linked with Barcelona.
But PSG have actually also been linked with the 29-year-old. And if and when Enrique takes over, then it’s possible he could be bound for the Parc des Princes.
Enrique played a big part in getting Laporte to declare for Spain, after he had represented France at youth level.
And soon after playing him for La Roja, Enrique said of Laporte in July 2021 (via The Sun): “As soon as Aymeric was able to play for us he began to make a huge contribution. He is a top player in both the attacking and defensive phases.
“We need someone with composure to bring the ball out from the back and pick up the free man in the midfield line.
“He is strong in the air, he is good with both feet, physically strong, quick and has very good covering play.
“He is an excellent defender and we are all delighted that he has decided to play for Spain.”
PSG could very possibly now make move for Aymeric Laporte, as Luis Enrique prepares to take over
This could well be music to Laporte’s ears.
PSG have had Laporte on their radar, and now it looks like they’re about to hire a manager who is genuinely a really big fan of the City star.
£120,000-a-week ace Laporte would likely become first-choice if he made a move to PSG with Enrique there.

So there should be no surprise if they do come calling in the coming weeks.
But, of course, it is a case of whether PSG are willing to pay what City want.
At the end of the day, Laporte is a top-class player, and he has two years left on his contract. City will not be letting him leave on the cheap.
