Daniel Sturridge heaped praise on Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez ahead of the game with Chelsea today.

City are facing the Blues at Stamford Bridge looking to make it four straight wins in the Premier League. Last time out, City won 6-0 against Bournemouth, but today’s game could be tricky.

Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, although Spurs did go down to nine men in the game.

But Chelsea have been good against top sides at Stamford Bridge this season.

City fans will be hoping for another top performance from Julian Alvarez, whom Pep Guardiola praised ahead of today’s game.

He came under the microscope during Sky’s coverage of the early kick-off between West Ham United and Nottingham Forest today…

Earlier today on Sky, Daniel Sturridge and Micah Richards were asked to guess players that had won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and World Cup.

Only five players have achieved the feat, including City’s Alvarez.

After Sky then played an interview with Alvarez, Sturridge then gave his thoughts about the Argentine forward.

He said: “For me, He’s such a magnificent football player. To have achieved so much in such a short space of time is amazing for him.

“I’m sure with his career moving forwards you can see he’s still got the hunger to want to succeed, to want to cement his place in the Manchester City team as well.]

“I’m sure his family will be delighted and the manager Pep Guardiola will be delighted with how he’s played.”

Alvarez was an incredible addition by City

The people involved in the Alvarez deal deserve a huge amount of credit.

Although River Plate are a huge club in Argentine, you tend not to see too many players coming to the Premier League directly from that club and that league.

They tend to make moves to other leagues in Europe, before then coming to England if they are good enough.

City did well to spot Alvarez and then even better to sign him for just £14 million. Goodness knows what his market value is now.
