The 2024 summer transfer window saw various deals take place at Manchester City.
With City sealing a £33m move for Savinho from Troyes and bringing Ilkay Gundogan back from Barcelona on a free transfer, this was the extent of the Manchester club’s incoming summer deals.
Despite just two new additions to the squad, the Citizens were linked with various other names during the summer window.
With that in mind, some interesting information has come to light regarding one of those players and what may happen during the next summer transfer window.

Man City still looking at Bruno Guimaraes
Speaking exclusively to Manchester City News, GRV Media’s transfer expert, Graeme Bailey, said this in regards to the Blues potentially reigning their interest in Bruno Guimaraes during the 2025 summer transfer window.
He said: “Bruno is a slightly different entity.
“He’s a player who’s talked about City in the past few weeks, Pep’s talked about him before. I thought it was fascinating the Pep quotes previously, where he does call him a holding-midfielder as well. Which I think is telling.
“Not everyone would necessarily call Bruno that. I think a holding-midfielder at City is slightly different.
“Bruno’s very happy at Newcastle, but if they weren’t to get Champions League football, he’s very high on City’s radar.”
What has Guimaraes said about a move to City?
Back in April, it was reported that City had approached Guimaraes’ representatives ahead of the previous summer transfer window over a potential move.
Shortly after that, Eddie Howe revealed to that the £100m release clause in the midfielder’s contract at Newcastle United would expire in June (via The Guardian) – which it eventually did.
More recently, Guimaraes discussed City’s interest in him, saying this on the matter earlier this month.
He said: “Of course, having Manchester City’s suggestions shows that I am at a high level but it was nothing more than suggestions.
“I know that [Pep] Guardiola likes my football, it is normal to have great coaches who admire your football. We have spoken once after the interview, I praised his work, he praised my work, but it was nothing more than that.”
This season has seen the Brazil international start all 12 of Newcastle’s Premier League games, racking up more minutes than any other outfield player at the club.
Across those games, Guimaraes has made more progressive passes (80) and recoveries (64) in the Newcastle squad as well as having the highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (40).
This makes it easy to see why City still have an interest in the 27-year-old and why a summer transfer move could be on the Manchester club’s agenda at the end of the season.
