Erling Haaland has been nominated for the 2023 PFA Young Player of the Year award, as well as the main award itself.
Every year the Professional Footballers’ Association recognises the best young players in the Premier League.
To qualify, nominees must be 21 years old or younger as of 1 July immediately preceding the start of the season.
Haaland up for double award
Haaland was 21 before the start of the 2022/23 season so has been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year.
The other nominees include Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, Brighton striker Evan Ferguson and Chelsea’s British transfer record signing Moises Caicedo.

Haaland has also been nominated for the main PFA Players’ Player of the Year award alongside City stars Kevin de Bruyne and John Stones.
Former Tottenham striker Harry Kane is also in the running as is Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard. Like Haaland, Saka is also in contention to win both awards.
Haaland enjoyed a hugely successful first season at City following his £51m move from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
The Norwegian striker scored a remarkable 36 goals in 35 league games, breaking the Premier League record for the most goals scored by one player in a single season.
Haaland scored 52 goals in 53 games in all competitions as City won the Champions League for the first time as part of a historic treble.
If Haaland wins the Young Player of the Year award then he will become the fifth City player to do so.
Phil Foden won the prize back-to-back in 2020/21 and 2021/22, after Leroy Sane took the title in 2017/18 and Raheem Sterling in 2018/19.
Peter Barnes won the third iteration of the award in 1975/76.
If Haaland is named PFA Players’ Player of the Year then he will become just the second City player to be given the honour.
Kevin de Bruyne scooped the prize in 2019/20 and 2020/21.
