Manchester City have been knocked out of the FIFA Club World Cup after suffering a 4-3 loss at the hands of Al-Hilal.
Despite Phil Foden’s equaliser in the first half of extra-time, Marcus Leonardo’s winner separated both sides as City have crashed out of the last-16.
Manchester City came back twice during the clash, after initially losing 2-1 before Erling Haaland’s leveller and Foden’s goal bringing them back into the contest.
However, Ederson Moraes was one of the primary suspect for the Sky Blues on Tuesday as he shipped two of Leonardo’s avoidable goals, leading to Manchester City fans claiming he should be sold.

Man City fans say Ederson should be sold after Club World Cup exit vs Al-Hilal
One Manchester City fan demanded £35 million man Ederson to leave after his woeful showing against Al-Hilal, simply writing: “At this point, Ederson, it’s okay. You can leave, we need a new goalkeeper.”
A second supporter claimed that Simone Inzaghi’s side would have lost if the 31-year-old was in between the sticks: “City fans, imagine if Ederson was Al-Hilal’s goalkeeper. Ederson out!”
A third Manchester City fan believes that their squad rebuild should have begun by selling Ederson after the loss to Al-Hilal: “This rebuild should have started with Ederson.”
Another City fan claimed that if the Brazilian was Al-Hilal’s goalkeeper, the Saudi Pro League side would have lost 6-0: “If Ederson was in goal for Al-Hilal right now, they’d be down 6-0.”
A fifth supporter simply wrote: “Surely, we sell Ederson after such a terrible performance.”
Finally, a sixth Manchester City fan claimed that Ederson’s importance to the side is overstated after his struggles against Al-Hilal as he believes the six-time Premier League winner is not a top-class shotstopper: “Don’t want to hear all this, how important Ederson is to our team, he can’t even make saves as a goalkeeper, which is their job.”
Just recently, Ederson admitted he will stay at Manchester City and unless he steps up his game, the supporters will understandably be frustrated with such displays.
Ederson stats for Man City vs Al-Hilal
Considering Ederson claimed he had a disappointing season, his errors against Al-Hilal as well as Juventus would have mystified the Manchester City fans as he seemed not to have learned from his previous mistakes.
Based on the stats as well, the decorated goalkeeper had a game to forget.
| EDERSON STATS VS AL-HILAL | |
| GOALS CONCEDED | 4 |
| SAVES | 2 |
| GOALS PREVENTED | -0.36 |
| HIGH CLAIMS | 0 |
The fact that the number of goals Ederson prevented has amounted to a figure of minus 0.36 reflects poorly on him.
Considering the City legend also made just two saves and no high claims are perhaps an indicator that his concentration was all over the place as well.
