Manchester City found themselves at the end of their first defeat of the 2024/25 season in midweek.

City couldn’t make it into November with their unbeaten streak intact as they lost 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspur in the last 16 round of the Carabao Cup.

Pep Guardiola’s side headed into this game with a significant injury list.

This was made even worse as Manuel Akanji picked up an injury in the warm-up and Savinho was stretchered off in the second half.

After the match, one particular figure who played a small role in Wednesday night’s match shared a post on social media which quickly led to multiple City supporters asking him the same question.

Man City fans swarm to Josko Gvardiol after latest social media post

After Josko Gvardiol was seen getting some medical attention at the end of City’s defeat to Spurs, he shared a post on his X account thanking the City fans for their midweek support.

This then led to multiple fans responding with their queries about his fitness ahead of Saturday’s Premier League match against Bournemouth.

One user wrote: “Tell us you’re not injured please.” Another user shared a reply along similar lines asking: “Are you okay? stay healthy and strong!”

Gvardiol nominated for Player of the Month

On the same day as this post, it was announced that Gvardiol is one of the eight nominees for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for October.

With that in mind and the fact that so many City fans have been asking about his fitness after the Spurs game, it’s clear that he is a very important and very impressive player for the Blues.

Regardless of his recent top-flight efforts being recognised by the Premier League, Guardiola’s only concern will be on Gvardiol’s fitness and the fitness levels of the other non-injured players in his depleted squad.
