Manchester City have cashed in on a wide number of players in recent years.
In fact, City have sold players at varying stages of their careers. For example, the 2023 summer transfer window saw the Blues sell academy star Cole Palmer to Chelsea and Riyad Mahrez to Al-Ahli, with both players at opposite ends of their playing careers.
The previous summer transfer window saw the Manchester club sell names such as Julian Alvarez, Joao Cancelo, Sergio Gomez and Liam Delap, picking up a significant amount of money in doing so.
Since then, Pep Guardiola’s side are not far off being halfway through their latest Premier League campaign on the hunt to win a fifth consecutive league trophy.
With Saturday seeing the Citizens take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park for their latest league outing, a fresh update from the manager has led to some City fans suggesting a current figure in the squad should be the next name to be shipped out of the Etihad Stadium.

Man City fans react to Nathan Ake update
In his recent press conference, Guardiola shared an injury update on Nathan Ake, saying that the defender is set for another spell on the sidelines after picking up what looked to be a hamstring injury in City’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
This then led to a group of City supporters saying on social media that the Dutchman’s consistent injury issues are making him unreliable and should therefore be sold by the club.
One user on X wrote: “Ake again seriously.”
Another suggested the centre-back’s latest injury will have a negative impact on how the Blues get through their upcoming fixtures in his absence, saying: “Ake is out again yeah we are cooked.”
This fan then suggested the club should aim to bring in a new centre-back during the upcoming January transfer window to help fill the gap left by Ake, saying: “Buy a CB in Jan !..these guys are pure glass.”
Ake’s injuries are a concern for City
The 29-year-old – whose contract at the Etihad isn’t set to expire until 2027 – suffered a hamstring injury during the September international break while in action for the Netherlands.
This led to Ake missing various games for the Blues across all competitions and had only recently found himself back in the starting XI again.
While the club shouldn’t be considering getting rid of any of their players right now, there’s no doubt that the £41m defender’s continued injury issues should be a concern for City.
