Man City fans say whether Pep Guardiola should actually sign Morgan Gibbs-White after 2-0 FA Cup win

Morgan Gibbs-White cut a forlorn figure after Nottingham Forest lost 2-0 to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final.

The England international came close to scoring twice during the contest, initially after his left-footed volley rattled the crossbar and soon after as the 24-year-old missed an open goal from an acute angle.

Manchester City are interested in signing Gibbs-White and in Nottingham Forest’s latest outing, he had the chance to audition ahead of a potential summer move. Hugo Viana has admired Gibbs-White for years and regardless of how one believes he performed, the former Sporting CP sporting director’s opinion of him is unlikely to have changed due to being a huge fan of his.

But Manchester City fans could not come to a conclusion about whether Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is good enough to play for them.

Man City fans say no to Morgan Gibbs-White move after Nottingham Forest clash

One Manchester City fan slammed Gibbs-White’s display as Nottingham Forest were knocked out of the FA Cup and made it clear that signing him would be a blunder: “I still do not want Gibbs White, under any circumstances at Manchester City. Atrocious performance overall.”

Gibbs-White is on Manchester City’s shortlist to replace Kevin De Bruyne and another fan stated that if Nottingham Forest demand £100 million, the Sky Blues should say no to the Nottingham Forest star man as he is “not good enough”: “No one can ever convince me that Morgan Gibbs-White is worth £100m, and that he’s good enough for City. He’s not.”

A third supporter claimed that his dream midfielder is Tijjani Reijnders, who Manchester City are interested in: “People can be proper dumb sometimes. Everyone’s got their own view – just ‘cause you rate Morgan Gibbs-White doesn’t mean everyone else has to.’ Doesn’t make you right, either. Brilliant profile but I’d rather have Tijani Reijnders at my club. Thanks.”

But a fourth Manchester City fan disagreed with other supporters and claimed that Gibbs-White impressed for Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-final.

Morgan Gibbs-White impressed several Man City fans

“Gibbs-White has balled. Hopefully you guys know the truth now.”

A fifth fan added: “Gibbs-White is good and if you think otherwise, it’s stupidity.”

A sixth Manchester City fan described Gibbs-White as a “true [number] eight” and a player who shone despite Nottingham Forest’s largely underwhelming showing: “One day, you guys will watch football and stop being dumb. Team that stank [up] the field had a guy trying to get them to play football, dropped deep, hit the post twice, had three tackles, was getting in the face of players. One day you guys will appreciate true number eights.”

A City supporter agreed, replying: “Strongly agree. We need an aggressive bulldozer with really good on-the-ball abilities. Off the ball, he’s great and development under Pep [Guardiola] would be exciting.”

“I hope he can handle the pressure better and not crumble like some of the within PL [Premier League] signings lately.”

Another fan stated: “He made an impression in a side that hardly had the ball and people are saying he wasn’t good.”

Finally, a ninth Manchester City fan stated that Gibbs-White would tick all the boxes as a quality signing from Nottingham Forest: “What’s wrong with MGW? Good, physical ball-carrier that can play off both feet, Prem [Premier League] proven and also fills a HG [homegrown] slot.”

It’s safe to predict that if the former Wolves attacker does move to the Etihad Stadium, opinions will be split amongst the fanbase.
