Man City fans share why they’re fuming about Manuel Akanji’s loan move to Inter Milan, ‘awful’

Manuel Akanji looks set to join Inter Milan on a season-long loan deal.

Akanji’s loan move to Inter has been agreed as he closes in on a temporary exit from Manchester City on deadline day.

However, Manchester City could find it difficult to sell the former Borussia Dortmund centre-back to the Italian giants permanently.

Akanji’s loan move to Inter could become permanent if he plays half of their games in Serie A and Cristian Chivu leads them to the title — two conditions which would turn the option-to-buy clause in the reported deal into an obligation for the club. Furthermore, City will cover a part of the defender’s wages.

Manchester City fans are upset after discovering the aforementioned details as they believe it is unlikely that Inter Milan will actually end up signing Manuel Akanji.

Man City fans upset about Manuel Akanji’s loan details as he nears Inter Milan move

One Manchester City fan claimed that unless Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries is making his way to the Etihad Stadium, the loan deal involving Akanji is an appalling one: “Unless we’re signing Dumfries, we’ve been scammed with this clause.”

A second City fan simply reacted to the news by writing: “This club is shocking in the market.”

A third Manchester City fan believes Akanji, who Jack Grealish lauded will return to the club after his potential loan spell at Inter Milan comes to an end, as he criticised the deal: “What an awful deal. He’s definitely coming back next season.”

Another Sky Blues supporter felt the Swiss international should have been sold months ago, slating City’s decision-making in the transfer market since they won the treble: “Stupid, we should have sold him months ago, our decisions in the market since we won the treble have been mostly questionable.”

A fifth supporter simply wrote: “Inter, you better win Serie A.”

Finally, a sixth fan was upset about Manchester City being set to pay a part of Akanji’s wages if he signs for Inter Milan on loan: “Wait, we’re still paying him to play somewhere else.”

All in all, the fans are far from happy about the potential deal for a number of reasons.

Pep Guardiola’s stance on Manuel Akanji’s loan move to potential Inter Milan

However, Pep Guardiola wanted to reduce Manchester City’s squad and as a result, the centre-back could leave alongside Fenerbahce-bound Ederson and Ilkay Gundogan, who could join Galatasaray.

The good news for the City boss is that the trio could depart the Etihad Stadium on deadline day.

Manchester City News revealed that Pep Guardiola was happy to keep Akanji but it seems like he could join Inter Milan on loan but the deal has mystified the fans. The supporters may be calmer about his potential exit if City return to winning ways after the international break.
