Manchester City will be aware that while they try to rebuild their squad, it is equally important for them to retain their key players.
Napoli could announce Kevin De Bruyne’s signing soon as he is one of the big names who has left City this summer.
Ederson looked set to leave Manchester City as well.
However, Pep Guardiola has told SPORT that the Brazilian is set to stay next season alongside Stefan Ortega while having his say on Joan Garcia: “Joan Garcia is a very good goalkeeper. City is interested in 500 players every transfer window. He’s an Espanyol player, and I don’t know what will happen. The players tell me he’s an extraordinary goalkeeper. The references we have are very good. Ter Stegen? I don’t know much about goalkeepers. I tell them to stop. We’ve talked about the situation of the squad, and the two goalkeepers we have will stay.”
Manchester City fans are delighted about the fact that Ederson will continue to remain their number one in the following campaign.

Man City fans delighted after Pep Guardiola confirms Ederson will stay
One ecstatic Manchester City fan claimed that there is no other goalkeeper who he would rather have at the Etihad Stadium over Ederson: “So happy Eddie’s staying, no other keeper I’d rather have in the world.”
Another supporter claimed he feels like City have won the treble again after coming across Pep Guardiola’s confirmation: “Eddie’s staying? Yes! This feels like winning the treble again.”
A third Manchester City fan claimed that it is ideal that Ederson is set to stay as goalkeepers like Espanyol’s Garcia and Lucas Chevalier could head elsewhere: “Fantastic news. The goalkeeper market is good this summer, but it seems Garcia is off to Barcelona and Chevalier to Aston Villa. Don’t think we can get a realistic upgrade on either one of these two, and in a summer lacking stability it’s good that our goalkeeping unit is set.”
A fourth City supporter claimed that the 31-year-old is the best goalkeeper in the world and better than any replacement the Sky Blues could have signed for him: “Ederson is a better player than anyone we could’ve signed. Still one of the best in the world. Imo the best because of his feet.”
A fifth fan stated that it is also a relief that Ortega, who eyes Manchester City’s number one spot next season will not leave the Etihad Stadium: “Glad Ederson and Ortega are staying, we simply cannot replace them.”
Finally, a sixth Manchester City fan claimed that Ederson deserves a new contract with a pay rise for how important he is to Pep Guardiola’s side: “Ederson deserves a pay rise. He has been massive for us. Through thick and thin, he’s always there. No one else has his skill set. He constantly gets downplayed by many City fans but he keeps going.”
The decorated shotstopper will be touched by the fact that City supporters worldwide continue to hold him in such high esteem.
Ederson has already hinted how long he wants to stay at Man City
After being linked with an exit throughout the summer of 2023, Ederson revealed his long-term future lied at Manchester City in August and he wished to stay put for years to come; something that should excite the fans.
The City legend said at the time: “It’s over. I spoke with some players, the coach, director, everyone. I talked to my family and it was a joint decision. We’ll stay more years at City.”
“The media says many things, sometimes inventing a little more. But I’ve already decided my future, especially after the conversation I had with [Pep] Guardiola. This season, I’m totally focused at City with my teammates in search of more titles.”
