Man City fans swarm social media to tell Tottenham to sign their own player after James Maddison’s injury

Manchester City fans will be hoping that before the summer transfer window draws to a close, the club are able to reduce the size of their bloated squad.

Pep Guardiola wants a smaller squad next season and perhaps justifiably so as City took 27 players to participate at the FIFA Club World Cup.

One man who was excluded from the travelling roster was Jack Grealish, who could be set to depart the Etihad Stadium this summer.

After James Maddison suffered a knee injury in Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle United, Manchester City fans flooded social media and recommended them to take Grealish off their hands as the Spurs midfielder’s replacement.

Man City fans want Tottenham to sign Jack Grealish as James Maddison replacement

As The Spurs Express demanded the addition of a brand-new number 10, a Manchester City fan urged Tottenham to sign Grealish by writing: “Boy, do I have a brilliant CAM [central attacking midfielder] for you… treble-winning Jack Grealish would make a fine addition to your team.”

Another City supporter posted a GIF of the former Aston Villa winger as he replied: “We have just the right guy that fulfills what you are looking for.”

Grealish’s wages have turned clubs off from signing him but a third Manchester City fan went as far as to claim that Tottenham can secure his services on a free transfer if they would like, which illustrates how frustrated some Sky supporters are with the player: “You can have my 10 [Grealish’s shirt number] for free, dude.”

A fourth Manchester City fan claimed that Thomas Frank’s side can sign the 29-year-old if they want for a fee of £45 million, writing: “For you, my friend, £45 million.”

Another Sky Blues supporter suggested that they expect the North Londoners to make a move for the three-time Premier League winner, captioning their post: “Dread it, run from it.”

A sixth Manchester City fan mentioned that considering Tottenham are interested in signing James McAtee, they should sign him or even Manuel Akanji apart from Grealish, three players the fan personally wants to see the back of: “We got plenty!! Jack or Mcatee? Akanji can step up and play there as well!”

Evidently, several City supporters are fed up with Grealish at this point as they are on board with the prospect of another one of the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ clubs signing him.

However, it will be easier said than done for Pep Guardiola and Co to offload the attacker.

Furthermore, Grealish is contemplating staying at Manchester City after having a brief conversation with Pep Guardiola recently.

While Tottenham have internally discussed signing Grealish, his wages have stopped them in their tracks from formalising their interest, something a whole host of Manchester City fans could be upset about.

However, as the Englishman would be desperate to be named in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup next year, he has to choose the best next step in his career to play regular football.
