Man City fans think it is a ‘shame’ what they are seeing from £30m star in Everton vs Man City

Man City return to Premier League action on Saturday with Pep Guardiola’s men facing a tough trip to Everton.

The Manchester club are looking to continue their push for Champions League football and will be confident of getting a result at Goodison Park after Man City impressed in their 5-2 hammering of Crystal Palace last weekend, in addition to their record against the Toffees.

Everton’s recent home record against City makes for grim reading, with the Merseyside club losing their last seven Premier League games since a 4-0 thrashing of Guardiola’s side in the Spaniard’s first season in charge.

Man City started the better of the two teams in Saturday’s contest at Goodison Park, and fans of the Manchester club are all saying the same thing about an action involving Savinho.

Man City fans are not happy with Savinho

Savinho joined Man City last summer as part of a £30m deal with Troyes after the winger impressed last season whilst on loan with La Liga side Girona.

Man City fans have not been totally impressed with Savinho as the Brazilian has had moments of brilliance, but has not done it on a consistent basis.

Early in the first half of Everton vs Man City, the winger went down easily in the Toffees box in search of a penalty and City fans were not happy as many felt he could have tried to get onto the end of Kevin De Bruyne’s cross.

Writing on X (formerly known as Twitter), one Man City fan wrote: “Savinho man, just go for the ball, don’t flop like that please.”

“Savinho, you are absolutely shameless man,” another City fan posted.

A third fan of the Manchester club said about the winger: “Savinho is not even close to what was expected of him this season.”

Pep Guardiola furious with Savinho penalty claim

De Bruyne believes Savinho can come good at Man City and would have been hoping that started with the Brazilian latching onto his header against Everton before the winger decided to go down under light contact.

One man who initially thought it was a penalty on the 21-year-old was Guardiola with Chris Sutton saying on BBC Radio 5 Live that the City boss was furious about the decision.

“Pep Guardiola is furious. He’s having words with the fourth official,” the pundit said.

“Is there enough contact? That’s the question. My gut reaction – there isn’t enough contact. Savinho should have been stronger and stayed on his feet.”
