As per a report by GOAL journalist Ruben Uria, there is no release clause in the contract of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
Interestingly enough, the 22-year-old’s representative, Rafaela Piementa alluded to the fact that there is indeed a clause, which is reportedly worth £175 million and could be triggered in 2024.
But now, it seems like the existence of any release clause could be a myth, which is incredible news from a Manchester City perspective as Erling Haaland is contracted to the club until 2027.
New details behind Haaland release clause at Manchester City
Since the former Borussia Dortmund striker has set foot at the Etihad Stadium, a huge talking point surrounding his name has been that he could eventually leave the club in the next few years.
With Real Madrid and Barcelona often poaching the biggest and best talents from English sides, many continue to believe that an eventual exit is written in the stars.
However, GOAL journalist Ruben Uria has reported that no such release clause exists in the current contract of Manchester City No.9, Erling Haaland.
Furthermore, it has been claimed that before Pep Guardiola signed his contract till 2025 which was set to expire in the summer, it was agreed that the youngster would stay an extra year till 2024. And at that point, a release clause would be included in his deal.
Best possible news for Manchester City
But if these claims are indeed true, Manchester City fans worldwide have a huge reason to rejoice, as the release clause talk surrounding Erling Haaland has continued to be a worry.
The prolific marksman has been a smash success at City, adapting instantly to the side to the extent that he is currently the leading goalscorer in European football with 39 goals.
As a result, the reported absence of a release clause could mean the Sky Blues could enjoy his presence for years to come.
