Man City now the most likely club to sign ‘the next Adama Traore’

Manchester City are leading the charge to sign Jeremy Doku this summer.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who has reported that City are well placed to see off competition for the young winger.

Following the £30m sale of Riyad Mahrez to Al-Ahli, City are now in the market for a new right-sided winger.

Pep Guardiola already has a few right-wing options in his squad, including Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Cole Palmer.

However, Foden is expected to play more of a central role this season, while the futures of Bernardo and Palmer are uncertain.

City are therefore looking at the market, with a number of options available to them.

City are just one of several clubs interested in Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, whose manager Roy Hodgson admitted it will be tough to keep hold of the 21-year-old.

Chelsea are also eyeing a move for Olise, with the player expected to cost around £50m.

City looking at Doku

As an alternative option, City are now also considering Stade Rennais winger Jeremy Doku.

On Tuesday Fabrizio Romano reported that City had added Doku to their list of potential replacements for Mahrez.

Tavolieri then reported that City are well placed to make a move happen.

“City are the most concrete possibility for Jeremy Doku at this moment,” he tweeted.

“Talks are on and intensified this week but [there has been] no offer, no negotiations as of now with Stade Rennais.”

He also confirmed that City aren’t the only top club interested in the young Belgian talent once described as the ‘next Adama Traore‘.

“Barcelona are following the sky blues just behind for the Belgian Red Devil with a huge interest as to replace Ousmane Dembele [who is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain]. Things are expected to move… To be continued.”

Doku joined Stade Rennais from Anderlecht in 2020, and last season scored six goals and provided two assists in 26 Ligue 1 appearances.
