New Manchester City signing Jeremy Doku has so much potential that he could become better than Raheem Sterling.

That’s according to Belgian journalist Claudo Reulens, who believes the 21-year-old winger will prove a hit at the Etihad Stadium.

City announced the signing of Belgian winger Doku from French side Stade Rennes on Thursday.

The treble-winners will pay a fee of £55.5 million spread over a series of instalments, with no add-ons included in the deal.

Doku comes in as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli in a £30m move this summer.

Doku has huge potential

Doku is a more direct winger than Mahrez, more in the mold of former City stars Sterling and Leroy Sane.

But according to Reulens, the youngster could become even better than now-Chelsea attacker Sterling.

“With his speed, power and technical ability he is custom-made for the Premier League,” Reulens told BBC Sport.

“The fans will love him, because he’s a very spectacular player. There is always something happening when he is on the ball.

“His speed is incredible, he has an acceleration in the acceleration. His first dribble is his best attribute.

“He has a playing style like [Chelsea’s former City winger] Raheem Sterling, but in my opinion Doku has more potential.”

However, the journalist did admit that it might be a while until City fans see the Doku as the finished article.

“In the final third he has to improve [with goals and assists] but in a great attacking team like Manchester City, I am sure he will improve on that.

“Doku is, in my opinion, the biggest talent in Belgium.”

The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the club and will take the number 11 shirt, last worn by Oleksandr Zinchenko.
