West Ham are trying to hijack Man City’s move for Jeremy Doku by offering the player something the treble-winners are not.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who has reported that the Hammers are doing their utmost to convince Doku to join them rather than City.
City are in the market for a new right-sided winger following the departure of Riyad Mahrez.
Mahrez’s £30m move to Al-Ahly has left Pep Guardiola with Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Bernardo Silva as right-wing options.
Speaking after City’s victory in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, Palmer admitted that he could leave the club this summer.
West Ham offer Doku higher wages
City are pushing to sign Belgian winger Jeremy Doku from Stade Rennes.

The French side are understood to want around £50 million for the 21-year-old, with West Ham and Spurs battling with City for his signature.
Previous reports have claimed that City have reached an agreement with Rennes and the player, but that West Ham have tried to hijack the move by submitting their own bid.
According to Tavolieri, David Moyes’ side are hoping to lure Doku to London by offering him higher wages than City are.
Despite this, City remain Doku’s preferred destination as he has ‘always dreamed of playing under Pep Guardiola’.
The winger joined Rennes from Anderlecht in 2020 having risen up through the Belgian club’s youth ranks.
Since then, Doku has made 91 appearances for the Ligue 1 side across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists.
