Manchester City are said to be feeling increasingly confident of signing Jamal Musiala, after being informed last week of his decision not to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich.
Musiala, 21, rejected the offer of a new deal from the Bavarian giants, placing City and Liverpool on red alert ahead of the summer.
Musiala is one of the game’s best young midfielders, and is apparently someone Pep Guardiola feels can become the very best in his position. He has already clocked up 153 appearances for Bayern since joining the club in 2020, and scored 40 goals and made 27 assists.
The former Chelsea youngster currently has a contract with Bayern until the summer of 2026, so there is potential for someone to get a good deal this summer when he’ll only have 18 months left.
Manchester City increasingly confident of signing Jamal Musiala

According to the Mirror, City and Liverpool scouts have both made trips to watch Musiala recently, including against Bayer Leverkusen.
At that time, Musiala had a contract offer on the table from Bayern, worth around £150,000-a-week.
But Musiala is said to have since informed club officials that he will not be signing it.
Now, City were made aware of this big development last week, and are said to actually be increasingly confident of signing the player in the summer.
But there will be strong competition for Musiala.
Liverpool are there, and his former club Chelsea are also hopeful of signing him, but their struggles in recent times are likely to count against them for any transfer deal.
The Mirror add that Musiala is set to cost at least £80 million this summer, in addition to weekly wages of around £200,000.
‘Very special’ Musiala would be a seriously exciting coup by Man City
So Musiala, who’s been compared to Jude Bellingham, could potentially be on the move this summer and it does appear that City are ready to make a move – and that is very exciting.
Musiala is undoubtedly one of the game’s top young midfielders – his teammate Joshua KImmich said of him last year (via bundesliga.com): “Jamal’s already very good, but can become world-class. He’s very advanced for his age. He’s full of tricks, unpredictable and also very dynamic when it comes to controlling the ball – especially with his first touch. He always tries to take the ball forward. He’s a very special player.”
There has been strong speculation that City will go back in for Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United in the next window.
But if they were to go after Musiala instead, or even as well as the Brazilian, then it would be a seriously exciting move by City.
