Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte is set to move to Al-Nassr – and the club are expected to bank around £25.6 million from the sale.

The Spain international has been widely expected to move on this summer.

Laporte really struggled for minutes last term.

And then earlier this summer, City went out and signed Josko Gvardiol, which undoubtedly affects Laporte.

Laporte has been with City since January 2018, joining from Athletic Bilbao.

The star has won everything at the club, and now looks set to follow Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez out of the Etihad.

It has been reported by journalist Ben Jacobs that City are expected to bank approximately £25.6 million from the sale of Laporte to Al-Nassr.

This is less than half what the club paid to sign him from Bilbao.

It is unclear whether City had any other bids come in for the 29-year-old.

Undoubtedly, Laporte moving to Al Nassr is another major coup for the Saudi Pro League.

Mainly because Laporte is still one of the best centre-halves in world football, despite his lack of minutes in recent times.

Man City selling Aymeric Laporte for £25.6 million is a travesty

If this goes through, then it will be one of the strangest transfer deals of the summer.

Mainly because this is a man who is still one of the very best players in the world in his position. He was previously described as ‘influential during build up phases’ by The Coaches Voice, and that is still the case today.

It is unbelievable that the £120,000-a-week man looks to be heading to Saudi, given he could start for most top clubs in Europe.

We know that City don’t stand in players’ ways when they want to leave the Etihad.

But this almost feels like City just giving a player away.

It is astonishing that other clubs seemingly haven’t come to the negotiating table.
