Manchester City are very familiar when it comes to signing players from fellow Premier League clubs.
For instance, since Pep Guardiola joined the club back in 2016, City have signed numerous players from various top-flight clubs.
In the club’s current squad, the likes of Jack Grealish, Matheus Nunes, Mateo Kovacic, Kyle Walker and John Stones all arrived at the Etihad Stadium from City’s Premier League rivals.
With the Blues finding themselves in another Premier League title race with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, some behind-the-scenes details have come to light regarding City’s interest in signing a key figure at one of their title rivals.

Man City open talks over Trent Alexander-Arnold transfer move
A recent report from Caught Offside claims that City have opened talks with the representatives of Trent Alexander-Arnold over a potential transfer move.
The report adds that the Liverpool right-back – whose current contract at Anfield is set to expire at the end of the season – is one of the candidates on City’s list of long-term replacements for Kyle Walker.
Alexander-Arnold praised ‘incredible’ Man City atmosphere
In 327 senior appearances for Liverpool, the 26-year-old has scored 19 goals and delivered 85 assists across all competitions.
16 of those games have come against City, during which the full-back, who Gary Neville said on Sky Sports has “special” ability, has scored twice and supplied one assist.
Interestingly, back in October, Alexander-Arnold praised City’s atmosphere, saying this about his experiences of playing at the Etihad Stadium.
“You know what? People always talk about Man City’s atmosphere. A lot of people talk about Manchester City’s atmosphere. And, you know, hand on heart, when we play them, the atmosphere is incredible. Like we feel it. It’s intense. The atmosphere is always really good there.”
This could therefore work in City’s favour when it comes to potentially luring the Englishman away from outfield and out of the clutches of Real Madrid and Barcelona who are also said to be interested in Alexander-Arnold.
Moving forward, it’ll be interesting to see if Alexander-Arnold signs a contract extension at Liverpool or starts talking to new clubs from January onwards.
