Manchester City have a reputation for having a significant number of talented young players at the club.

In addition to seeing City’s academy sides winning numerous trophies in recent years, names such as Phil Foden, Rico Lewis and Oscar Bobb have gone on to become prominent members of the senior squad.

While City are very capable of producing young talents, they also know how to sign one from other clubs, as they did with Bobb back in 2019.

Now, however, some details have come to light regarding another young player currently making a name for himself abroad that City’s scouts have had their eyes on recently.

Man City scouts impressed by Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda

According to a recent report from Record, City’s scouts were in attendance at Sporting CP’s Super Cup clash against Porto on Saturday and came away being very impressed by what they saw from 17-year-old winger Geovany Quenda.

The report also added that the scouts in attendance were particularly enamoured with the Sporting youngster’s maturity and the player, who has been followed since he was 15, is now very much on City’s radar.

Quenda is an exciting player

With 33 combined youth appearances for Sporting under his belt, the teenager has scored 11 goals and delivered nine assists.

The recent match against Porto not only saw Quenda make his senior debut for Sporting, but he also found the back of the net during the game which ultimately ended with Porto winning on penalties.

Described as a “talented” player by U23 scout Antonio Mango on X, the Portuguese teenager has shown how much of an exciting talent he is.

Moving forward, with Quenda reportedly impressing the City scouts at the weekend, it’ll be interesting to see if he remains of interest to the Manchester club throughout the upcoming season.
