It has been reported that Manchester City officials jetted to Germany to watch Florian Wirtz in action against Hoffenheim on Saturday.

This comes from 90 Min as the 20-year-old continues to be linked with a move to Pep Guardiola’s men in the summer of 2024.

As Bayer Leverkusen beat Hoffenheim 3-2 in a tight-knit victory away from home, Manchester City had their sights set on Florian Wirtz, who opened the scoring on the day.

Branded as ‘outstanding’ by Hansi Flick and ‘unbelievably talented’ by Ilkay Gundogan, the teenager continues to live up to the hype.

The German international was a bright spark for Xabi Alonso’s side once again, scoring a well-worked opener as he beat his man on the right before making a smart run in behind to get on the end of an excellent assist from Victor Boniface.

Luckily enough for Manchester City, as Bayer Leverkusen got over the line against Hoffenheim, their representatives, who were present for the sole purpose of scouting Florian Wirtz must not have been left disappointed.

In addition, other elite clubs were also in attendance such as Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus to watch the silky midfielder in the flesh.

Florian Wirtz would become a superstar under Pep Guardiola

As Florian Wirtz showcased against Hoffenheim, he is the perfect Manchester City attacker.

Kickstarting the build-up for his opener from the left flank before finishing the chance inside the box, the youngster has shown time and again how comfortable he is in most phases of play.

This comes down to Wirtz’s versatility and technical excellence, making him a brilliant tactical weapon for any manager.

If Pep Guardiola is given the chance to work with Florian Wirtz, he is likely to improve his tactical understanding of the game by utilising him in a variety of positions and areas of the pitch.

For the Bayer Leverkusen poster-boy, his evolution into an elite moder-day creator would seem like destiny if paired up with Guardiola, who is known to coach attackers in order to reach the next level.
