It’s official, Pep Guardiola has extended his contract at Manchester City Football Club.
After weeks of speculation, the Spaniard has now put an end to it by agreeing an extension, meaning he will have done at least 10 years at the club.
Manchester City were always confident of getting a deal done.
Fabrizio Romano claimed City never even spoke to potential successors, because they were so adamant that Guardiola would extend his stay.
It’s a huge day for the club, with Pep Guardiola having overseen a hugely successful period since his arrival at the club in 2016.
He’s won 18 trophies so far, and City officials will hope there will be plenty more to come.
Tonight, the club have published quotes from Guardiola – and there is an interesting development regarding the length of this contract.
Pep Guardiola extends Man City contract by two straight years

Over the past few days, a number of outlets and journalists had reported that Guardiola was set to sign a one-year extension, with only the option for a second year after.
But that information appears to have been wide of the mark.
According to journalists Sam Lee and Simon Bajkowski, the Spaniard has actually agreed an extension of two guaranteed years in what is a major development.
City, who have also confirmed the two-year deal, have tonight published quotes from Guardiola, who has said: “Manchester City means so much to me.
“This is my ninth season here; we have experienced so many amazing times together. I have a really special feeling for this football club.
“That is why I am so happy to be staying for another two more seasons.”
Incredible news for Man City fans
So we have gone from thinking Guardiola was potentially leaving, to him reportedly agreeing a one-year deal plus the option for a second, to a straight-up two-year deal.
It has been quite the few days, but City fans everywhere are now rejoicing over Guardiola’s contract extension.
Pep Guardiola at Manchester City (2016-present)

Wins – 360
Draws – 60
Losses – 70

Guardiola clearly still has the hunger to manage this team and wants to continue what he’s been building over the last nine-and-a-bit years.
The fact he’s guaranteed to be staying for two more seasons after the current one will come as a huge blow to fans of rival clubs, and hopefully, the Spaniard can keep City on top, amid new competition from the likes of Enzo Maresca, Ruben Amorim and Arne Slot.
