Manchester City could be without Bernardo Silva for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup game with Sevilla.

City take on the Spanish outfit in Athens and are looking to win the trophy for the first time.

Pep Guardiola’s side got off to a great start in the Premier League on Friday against Burnley, beating the Clarets 3-0.

Erling Haaland scored two goals, with Rodri also getting off the mark.

It was a fairly comfortable evening, but there was one downside for Pep.

Kevin De Bruyne limped off midway through the first-half with an apparently hamstring injury.

Pep is said to be worried about the Belgian’s conditition. He is having a scan today.

And De Bruyne isn’t the only player to have picked up an injury against Burnley…

Manchester City star Bernardo Silva set to miss UEFA Super Cup with Sevilla

Le10 Sport have reported today that Bernardo ‘has been slightly injured and is not expected to take part’ against Sevilla.

The Portugal international played a full 90 minutes against Burnley.

But seemingly, he did not come out of the game unscathed.

The 29-year-old felt some pain coming out of the game, and this knock could now rule him out of Wednesday’s game. the nature of the injury is not specified.

The publication state that he ‘should not be part of the trip’. This may suggest he may not even travel with the squad.

Le10 Sport are reporting about Bernardo as they have taken a particular interest in him due to the recent interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Yesterday though, they stated that PSG have now given up trying to sign him, and that he is set to extend his contract at the Etihad Stadium by a further two years.

A blow for City on top of De Bruyne

It doesn’t seem like the injury for Bernardo is too serious from the wording of this report.

If Bernardo does indeed miss out against Sevilla then that’s a big blow in terms of winning that game.

City will already be without De Bruyne, and so the creating of chances could be tricky if £43 million star Bernardo also misses out.

John Stones also probably won’t feature having picked up a hip injury recently.

And it remains to be seen of if Ruben Dias will be able to play, after picking up a concussion in the lead up to the Burnley game.
