Man City told they have a ‘phenomenal’ player who is just like Myles Lewis-Skelly at Arsenal

Myles Lewis-Skelly is a name that has caught the attention of every football fan in England this season.

The 18-year-old has pounced on the opportunities that have arisen at Arsenal this season due to injuries and has made the left-back spot in the Gunners team his own, going on to feature in 18 Premier League contests.

Injuries, among other issues, have also been present at Man City this season and Pep Guardiola has slowly found solutions in recent weeks having brought in Omar Marmoush to Man City in January, in addition to Nico Gonzalez and Abdukodir Khusanov.

The trio have had a big impact at the Manchester club, while City have also needed to find solutions in-house, which has led to a situation similar to Lewis-Skelly’s at Arsenal.

Shaun Wrigh-Phillips believes Nico O’Reilly can be phenomenal at Man City

Since coming off the bench to produce two assists during Man City’s FA Cup quarter-final win over Bournemouth at the end of March, Nico O’Reilly has been a key member of Guardiola’s squad, with the youngster filling in at left-back for City.

Man City fans have heaped praise on O’Reilly since, as just like Lewis-Skelly, the 20-year-old is a natural midfielder who is operating successfully at left-back.

Tim Sherwood has stated that O’Reilly has ‘all of the ingredients’ to become a star, which is a sentiment Shaun Wright-Phillips shares with the pundit.

“He’s pretty similar to the Lewis-Skelly situation,” Wright-Phillips said about O’Reilly on The Kelly & Wrighty Show.

“He’s an attacking midfielder by trade, but he’s played there and he’s been phenomenal. I was lucky enough to see him in pre-season, they played against Celtic and you could see he had something. He’s going to be some player if he keeps going.”

Wright-Phillips’ father, Ian Wright, agrees with his son and believes both the Man City star and Lewis-Skelly will make it in the Premier League.

The rise of O’Reilly and Lewis-Skelly could not come at a better time for the English duo as the 2026 World Cup is happening next summer, with left-back being one of the positions up for grabs in Thomas Tuchel’s team.

The Arsenal star has an advantage over the 20-year-old having already made his Three Lions debut, but that is something the Man City youngster can claw back, with Wright believing both will be a success in the Premier League.

“I do believe they will make it and I think in O’Reilly, all of a sudden, they (Man City) have unearthed a player who can score goals and create something,” the former Arsenal star said on The Kelly & Wrighty Show.

Man City will enter the summer transfer market in search of a left-back, with Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso linked with a move to the Etihad, and should this happen, it is uncertain how it will impact O’Reilly in Manchester.
