Manchester City are reportedly keeping tabs on Juventus youngster Samuel Iling-Junior.

That’s according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who has said that City are “well across the situation” regarding the 19-year-old winger.

Iling-Junior is a product of Chelsea’s youth system, but joined Juventus in 2020 and made his senior debut last season.

City could take advantage of Juventus situation

Juventus are not in the most advantageous of positions right now, having been at the heart of a huge financial scandal.

Should the outcome of the case put the club at risk of breaching financial regulations, then they might have to sell valuable assets like Iling-Junior.

“Newcastle have certainly scouted the player, I know that Manchester City are well across this situation as well,” Jacobs told the NUFC Transfer Matters Show.

“There are two years left on the contract, so it’s getting to the point where there might be a deal to be had.

“As things settle at Juventus and the magnitude of their financial situation and board upheaval becomes apparent, there’s very much an opportunity in the second half of the window for some kinds of deals to be done at bargain prices because Juve might have to sell.

“That means that a player that perhaps would have a price tag of around £20m might be on the market for around £10m.”

Jacobs reported that Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also interested in the England youth international.

City could do worse than take a chance

If it really would take as little as £10m to tempt Juventus into a sale, then Iling-Junior might be a risk worth taking.

With Bernardo Silva’s future uncertain and Riyad Mahrez turning 33 next season, City could be in need of a new winger in the not-too-distant future.

Iling-Junior made nine Serie A appearances last season, proving he can play at the top level.

While far from the finished product, in the long run he could deliver a big return on a relatively cheap investment.
