The father of Manchester City target Alexis Mac Allister has said that is it ‘most likely’ the midfielder will be playing for a new club next season.

The star has enjoyed a terrific season so far, playing a key role in helping Brighton push for European football, and of course, winning the World Cup with Argentina.

Mac Allister has seriously impressed, and speculation has really picked up over the past couple of months about his future.

Mac Allister joined Brighton in 2019 from Argentinos Juniors and has made over 100 appearances for the Seagulls.

But there is a feeling he could be ready to make the step up to a top club now.

Fabrizio Romano has today reported that Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all in the race for the star.

But it has been reported previously that City also like the 24-year-old. And 90min have reported today that City are indeed keen.

It remains to be seen if someone will be able to prise him away from the Amex Stadium. But Mac Allister’s father Carlos has suggested he will be moving on.

He told Puro Boca: “Normally the next pass book will find him playing in another institution, we do not know in which, the talks in general have just begun, but most likely next July he will already be playing in another team.”

Mac Allister will not come cheap to anybody this summer.

His profile has grown massively since the World Cup. And Brighton have become known in recent times for getting huge fees for their players.

Journalist Gaston Edul claimed recently (via All About Argentina) that Brighton would seek around £62 million to sell Mac Allister.

90min suggest he is more likely to be granted an exit this summer than Moises Caicedo and Kaoru Mitoma.

Alexis Mac Allister would be a solid replacement for Ilkay Gundogan at Manchester City

So it looks as though there is a reasonable chance Mac Allister will leave Brighton this summer.

Interest in him is very high though and the star would improve a lot of top teams across Europe.

He’s a cracking addition for City.

There has been a lot of speculation that Ilkay Gundogan could leave the club this summer. He comes to the end of his contract at the end of the current season.

It would be a very sad sight to see him go given how good he has been. But he is 32 now, and might fancy one more chapter somewhere else before retiring.

Mac Allister is a similar kind of player to the German. And you just know Pep Guardiola would improve him as he does with most players he gets his hands on.

Of course, City have also been strongly linked with Jude Bellingham. It would be no surprise if he was the main midfield target for Pep.
