Man City transfer news: Barcelona plotting Joao Cancelo loan move

It has been reported that Barcelona are considering making a loan offer to sign Joao Cancelo from Manchester City in the summer.

In March, it was claimed that Bayern Munich had no intention to trigger the £62 million buy option to sign the Portuguese full-back.

It seems Barcelona are inclined to feel the same way as Bayern but remain insistent on signing Joao Cancelo on loan next season.

Barcelona keen on Cancelo loan deal

Branded as an ‘amazing player’ by Bernardo Silva, there is no disputing just how much of a unicorn of a full-back Joao Cancelo is.

But of course, after his reported falling out with Pep Guardiola, the ever-credible Jack Gaughan reported in late January that his chances of returning to the Etihad Stadium are virtually non-existent.

Seeing how Joao Cancelo looks likely to leave Manchester City, Spanish outlet SPORT have mentioned that Barcelona are interested in signing him on loan in the summer.

Further details claim that while Xavi’s side have concerns over the two-time Premier League winner’s attitude, they are huge admirers of his profile and the versatility that he can bring to the table.

It has also been stated that Joao Cancelo is open to joining Barcelona on loan, while the club itself are willing to take a chance on him amidst his much-publicised behavioural issues.

The silky defender is viewed as an alternative to Juan Foyth, as Villareal are seemingly unwilling to negotiate a lower selling fee than his £47 million release clause, which is considered excessive by the Catalan giants.

As Bayern are unlikely to sign Cancelo on a permanent basis, the La Liga leaders have considered his availability as a golden opportunity to sign him.

Ultimately, if Barcelona do consider it doable amidst their financial troubles to sign the enigmatic full-back on loan, it seems likely that Manchester City could let him go if they fail to find a buyer for him in the summer.
