It has been reported that Manchester City have agreed personal terms with RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol ahead of a potential transfer.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano, after it was previously claimed that the 21-year-old himself is ‘keen’ on signing for the treble-winners.

Now, it seems like Manchester City are a step closer to getting a transfer over the line for Josko Gvardiol.

Fabrizio Romano: Manchester City agreed personal terms with Josko Gvardiol ahead of summer transfer

The Sky Blues clearly rate the Croatian international extremely high, with a previous report making the claim that he has been their main target of the summer window.

Branded as ‘unreal’ by GiveMeSport, the former Dinamo Zagred talent is easily one of the most naturally gifted centre-backs of his generation.

Now, Fabrizio Romano himself has revealed that Manchester City and Josko Gvardiol have reached an agreement over personal terms, pinpointing yet again that Pep Guardiola is one of his biggest admirers.

However, it has been reiterated that RB Leipzig aim to keep him and will not sell their prized asset for a fee less than £85.9 million.

Romano added that ‘talks will take place’ between both clubs, as Leipzig have their sights set on making him the most expensive defender of all time.

Josko Gvardiol is worth splashing the clash on

With Aymeric Laporte, who has been one of Europe’s best centre-halves since joining Manchester City touted to leave, a major outlay on Josko Gvardiol makes complete sense.

The highly-rated defender is a generational talent and much like Laporte, the left-footer is an astute reader of the game and an excellent passer.

At just 21 years old, Gvardiol’s all-round game puts most centre-backs to shame and particularly as a left-sided defender in a back three, his ability to defend wide areas and elite athleticism makes him tailor-made for Guardiola’s current system.

Josko Gvardiol could go on to lead Manchester City’s backline for the next decade and as a result, paying a steep fee in the short-term could lead to a return on investment for the ages.
