A claim has been made that Manchester City target Alexis Mac Allister is set to join Liverpool next season.
Just two weeks ago, the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder’s father admitted that his son was likely to leave in the summer of 2023.
While Manchester City have been linked with Alexis Mac Allister for the past couple of months, it seems like his future lies in Liverpool.
Jack Gaughan reports Mac Allister is Liverpool and not Manchester City-bound
After all, the Daily Mail’s credible Jack Gaughan has reported that Brighton’s own players believe Manchester City-linked midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is ‘destined’ to join Liverpool.

So much so that the squad have openly discussed the World Cup’s winner potential switch to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Interestingly, it has also been stated that apart from both English juggernauts, even Manchester United have kept an eye on the situation.
Perhaps the only potential saving grace for Manchester City remains that Brighton will demand a £70 million fee to sell Alexis Mac Allister, which could put Liverpool off.
With the Seagulls known to be tough negotiators, the Reds may be priced out of signing him, as was the case with Jude Bellingham, as the report states.
MCN View: Mac Allister would be tailor-made to replace Gundogan
As things stand, there still seems to be uncertainly surrounding Ilkay Gundogan’s future, whose contract runs out in the summer.
If Liverpool do end up signing Alexis Mac Allister, the Premier League champions could end up not signing a player perfectly suited to succeed the German.
Not to suggest that the Argentine is anywhere near as well-rounded or even talented as the former Borussia Dortmund technician.
But much like Gundogan, Mac Allister also profiles like a controller in the middle of the park, whose defensive work goes unnoticed, is technically gifted, a top passer and the archetypal No.8.
In many ways, the ex-Boca Juniors man even suits Pep Guardiola’s setup more than Jude Bellingham, which would make it a shame to miss out on his signature.
