It has now been reported how Mateo Kovacic internally feels about a potential transfer to Manchester City.

This comes from the Daily Mail’s credible journalist Jack Gaughan, after Fabrizio Romano claimed at the start of June that the Chelsea midfielder were set to agree personal terms over a move to City.

As Mateo Kovacic could now bid farewell to the Blues, how he feels about the prospect of playing Manchester City has come to light.

Jack Gaughan: How Mateo Kovacic feels about potential Manchester City transfer

It has been previously reported that Pep Guardiola himself is a huge admirer of the £40 million (Sky Sports), branded as ‘outstanding’ by Frank Lampard via OneFootball and personally aches for his presence at the Etihad Stadium.

With Ilkay Gundogan’s contract set to expire in the summer and Bernardo Silva’s future still up in the air after winning the treble, it is highly likely that the club will need to bolster their midfield department.

Thankfully for Manchester City, it has been revealed that Mateo Kovacic is ‘keen’ on a summer transfer after all.

With only one year left on the former Real Madrid technician’s contract, it seems increasingly likely that he will don a lighter shade of blue next season.

Not just Mateo Kovacic but other transfer targets are likely to feel the same

This does not come as a surprise, considering City became the second English team to have won a treble on Saturday night after beating Inter Milan 1-0 in the Champions League final.

Manchester City are the absolute pinnacle of world football and with Pep Guardiola set to stay at the club until at least 2025, their other transfer targets apart from Mateo Kovacic are likely to feel the same way.

To play for the best team in the world off the back of a treble-winning campaign after they seemingly have no plans to slow down in their search for glory is every footballer’s dream.

City are undoubtedly one of the greatest club sides in the history of the game and if players were not keen enough to play for them in the past, the excitement is likely to be through the roof.
