RB Leipzig sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed that Manchester City could now wrap up a transfer for Josko Gvardiol soon.
As relayed by journalist Santi Aouna, he gave an insight into how close the Croatian international was to leaving the Bundesliga giants.
Instead of beating around the bush, Max Eberl flat-out revealed that Manchester City were edging closer to signing Josko Gvardiol.
RB Leipzig director Max Eberl confirms Josko Gvardiol to Manchester City transfer is imminent
Branded as ‘phenomenal’ by Mateo Kovacic, the 21-year-old has been described as the Sky Blues’ ‘main target’ of the summer transfer window in a previous report.
With Aymeric Laporte touted to leave the Etihad Stadium after a season where he fell down to the bottom of City’s pecking order of centre-halves, the youngster has been earmarked as his replacement.
Now, even RB Leipzig director Max Eberl has confirmed that Josko Gvardiol could become a Manchester City player in a matter of days.

“Gvardiol and his agents gave us their desire to move to Manchester City. We are in talks with City”
“Yes, for €100 million (£85.9 million) plus bonuses, Gvardiol will end up in Pep’s [Guardiola] strong hands. The value of the deal would make Gvardiol the most expensive defender in history. But it might take a few more days.”
There should not be a debate over the fee
It is likely that after Max Eberl confirmed this latest development surrounding Josko Gvardiol and Manchester City, many might have a debate over the fee.
However, that should not be the case as the ex-Dinamo Zagreb defender is perhaps one of the best prospects, at least in his position that the game has seen in years.
While Gvardiol is still not the finished article, there is simply not a box he does not tick both in and out of possession.
As a result, while the fee may seem excessive in the moment, over time, Josko Gvardiol will likely make it look like a bargain in sky blue.
