It has been claimed that Manchester City and Real Madrid are set to go head-to-head to complete a transfer for Alphonso Davies.
The £11.1 million (Sky Sports) man has been considered as one of, if not simply the best left-back in the world since his move to Bayern Munich.

As Manchester City and Real Madrid look to bolster their left-back departments in the summer transfer window, it seems as if both clubs’ sights are set on bringing in Alphonso Davies, branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Gerard Pique via the Bundesliga’s official website.
Manchester City & Real Madrid plotting Alphonso Davies transfer
While Pep Guardiola hinted at Joao Cancelo’s return recently, it is likely that the Sky Blues will look to find a buyer for him in case Bayern Munich decide not to sign him on a permanent basis next season.
Despite Nathan Ake being undoubtedly impressive as a makeshift left-back, it is undeniable that the club perhaps require a more natural and attacking minded-player in the role.
According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenburg, as relayed by Mia San Mia, both Manchester City and Real Madrid have shortlisted Alphonso Davies as a transfer priority for the upcoming summer.

With Davies’ contract set to expire in 2025 and him yet to sign an extension, perhaps the pair of European juggernauts may have a chance of landing one of the best left-backs in Europe.
MCN View: Alphonso Davies would be the dream Sky Blues signing
Considering City have only one natural and experienced winger in their ranks in Riyad Mahrez, it is fair to say that the side lacks width.
However, if Alphonso Davies does decide to approve a swoop to Manchester City instead of Real Madrid, he would add bags of pace, incredible ball-carrying ability and directness on the left flank.
In some senses, the Canadian skipper’s arrival may even mean the club may not need a wide left-winger next term, as he could provide the width whilst also being the perfect partner-in-crime for Jack Grealish to thrive.
