Manchester City have seen a lot of their players take part in the 2024 European Championship.

In fact, City had more players from their squad (14) picked to represent their countries in the tournament than any other side in the Premier League.

Despite that, one player, who has been linked with a transfer move to the Etihad Stadium recently delivered a star performance for his nation that proved to us why he’d be a top signing for Pep Guardiola.

Man City-linked Dani Olmo showed his star quality in Spain vs Germany

In Spain’s quarter-final match against Germany, RB Leipzig midfielder, Dani Olmo, who has been linked with City in recent weeks according to Bild, replaced the injured Pedri in the eighth minute of the match and went on to play through the entire contest.

After the two sides went it at halftime with the score at 0-0, Olmo opened the scoring in the 51st minute by slotting the ball with a cool finish past Manuel Neuer after getting on the end of a Lamine Yamal cross.

With Germany grabbing a late equaliser to take the game to extra time, the Leipzig star delivered another piece of quality by putting in the cross that Mikel Merino was able to head the ball in from just two minutes before the end of extra time.

Olmo would be an exciting signing for City

In addition to his crucial goal and assist, the 26-year-old made three key passes in total as well as successfully completing five of the six duels he was involved in.

This shows how capable he is on the ball and how dangerous he can be in terms of delivering goal contributions for his side.

Olmo, who Josko Gvardiol has reportedly spoken to about joining City, ultimately earned himself an impressive overall match rating of 9/10 from SofaScore, making him the highest-rated player on the day.

Having delivered such a star performance against one of the toughest sides in the tournament, this highlights how much of a special signing Olmo could be for City and Guardiola.
