After Manchester City dismantled Arsenal 4-1 on Wednesday, Jamie Carragher likened Erling Haaland to Didier Drogba.
Branded as ‘one of the best in the world’ by Benjamin Pavard, the £51.2 million (Eurosport) man put in a textbook centre-forward display against Mikel Arteta’s side.
Leaving the Etihad Stadium with a record-breaking goal and two assists to his name against Arsenal, Erling Haaland was compared to Didier Drogba by Jamie Carragher.
Carragher compares Haaland to Drogba as Manchester City beat Arsenal
While the Norwegian international is widely viewed as a poacher, his all-round showing was sensational.
The way Haaland dominated the Gunners centre-back pairing with his incredible hold-up play, elite first-touch and intelligent passing was a joy to witness.
Jamie Carragher was blown away by Manchester City striker Erling Haaland against Arsenal and went on to compare the young man to Didier Drogba.

“I’ve said all season that he’s breaking goalscoring records but for me, Haaland isn’t just a great goalscorer, I think he’s a great player. On the night, we saw evidence of that. This situation… [how he laid the ball off to Kevin De Bruyne for the first goal]”, he said on the Overlap YouTube channel.
“A lot of times Arsenal were trying to press up the pitch and it reminded me of a player I played against, he was fantastic for Chelsea in terms of Didier Drogba. That thing of bullying a centre-back.”

As Jamie Carragher said, Erling Haaland, much like the former Chelsea No. 9 bullied the Arsenal defence and apart from being a threat in the final third, he was a menace in all areas of the pitch.
The Ivorian icon was renowned for bringing so much more to the table during his time at Stamford Bridge as his pioneered a system that featured a lone striker.
Credit to Erling Haaland for putting in such a domineering display that was worthy of a comparison to an all-time great.
