Man City’s Savinho says £18m Chelsea player is actually one of his best friends in football

Savinho would not have found it too much of a challenge to settle into the Manchester City dressing room due to the number of Portuguese speakers in their squad.

The Manchester City winger would have instantly developed a connection with the likes of Ederson Moraes, Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva.

But even Oscar Bobb can speak in Portuguese due to his time at FC Porto during his teenage years, which would have been a delight for Savinho to discover.

With Brazilian defender Vitor Reis signing for City in January as well, the pair would have bonded instantly.

But Savinho has now revealed who one of his best friends in football is.

Savinho names Chelsea star Andrey Santos as one of his best friends

Andrey Santos, who signed for Chelsea for 18 million (ESPN) in 2023 is one of Savinho’s “closest friends” within the game.

So much so that Savinho revealed that he is the godfather to Andrey Santos’ son.

The 20-year-old told Manchester City’s official YouTube channel: “Andrey, one of my closest friends in football. We were always in youth national teams together. I’m even the godfather to his son.”

“I’ve got a lot of love for him and his family and it’s mutual. I’m really grateful for our friendship.”

What is Savinho and Andrey Santos record together?

Considering the pair have played plenty of times for Brazil’s youth sides, it is no surprise that Savinho and Santos are close friends.

It must be incredible for both players to witness each other’s growth in the past few years.

As Savinho stated, he has played with Santos at Under-16 and Under-18 level for Brazil and here is their record.

The pair have played 11 times in tandem.

Savinho and Santos have won seven of these games, drawn one and lost three.

Having trained together and spent time off the pitch, players often strike a tight-knit bond and that seems to be the case with the two Brazilian wonderkids.
