Xavi has now been asked about the possibility of bringing Manchester City No.9 Erling Haaland to Barcelona.

The 43-year-old spoke about the Norwegian in his press conference earlier on Wednesday.

So, what did Xavi say about Erling Haaland? Let’s take a look…

Xavi rules out Haaland to Barcelona

Well, the Spanish giants have only just welcomed Vitor Roque to the Camp Nou after a €40m (£35m) deal was agreed with Athletico Paranaense back in July.

However, Xavi was asked whether the 18-year-old can expect a more experienced striker such as Haaland or Kylian Mbappe to arrive as competition.

Manchester City fans will be pleased to hear that the Spaniard effectively ruled out any chance of the Norway international moving to Barcelona.

Xavi is quoted by Fabrizio Romano as saying: “We can’t think of Haaland or Mbappe to join Barça now. We can’t afford these players, unfortunately. I’m happy with the players I have. We need to reach our best level as at this club we need to be always at top level.”

The 23-year-old has enjoyed another strong campaign at Manchester City so far with 19 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions, while also providing five assists.

Real Madrid have different outlook on Manchester City No.9

When you score 71 goals in your first 75 appearances for Manchester City, Europe’s elite clubs are obviously going to sit up and take notice.

While Barcelona have hamstrung themselves through poor financial management, Real Madrid are actually said to be getting their finances in check to make a push for Haaland – according to AS.

Nevertheless, we do not believe Manchester City fans should be concerned by this.

Haaland seems very content with life at the Etihad Stadium, and with a contract running until 2027 – a deal Manchester City are actually looking to extend – Real Madrid would surely have to break the bank to sign him.
