Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has now heaped praise on Manchester City loanee Alex Robertson for his efforts so far this season.
The 20-year-old has been thriving during his loan stint at Fratton Park, which expires at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
So, what was said about Manchester City loanee Alex Robertson? Let’s take a look…
What John Mousinho said about Alex Robertson
Well, the 37-year-old spoke to Manchester City’s official website about the Australia international, and he sounds absolutely delighted by his contributions this season.
Mousinho spoke in great detail about Robertson’s application, notably saying: “If you take an overall view on it, he’s come into the side and proved himself as one of the first names on the team sheet every week.
“Really pleased with everything he’s done so far, established himself in the team, become one of our best players and for his first loan in this country he’s done really well. We knew he was going to have an impact, but we did not think he’d have the same impact he’s had.”

Clearly, Mousinho has been taken aback by Robertson’s stunning efforts, which he admits he did not actually expect whatsoever – a nice surprise, in that respect.
Can Manchester City recall Alex Robertson?
Mousinho has previously confirmed that Manchester City could recall the attacking midfielder in January if the treble winners chose to do so.
The Isleworth-born tactician told The News: “You never know for certain, because it’s something Manchester City control. I’d be surprised though if they saw him flourishing and wanted to change anything.”

In our view, the Citizens would be foolish to recall Robertson – and we highly doubt that will happen anyway.
However – given Robertson’s status as a full Australian international and his consistently strong performances – a permanent bid arriving for his services in January cannot be ruled out, something Manchester City would surely consider given the depth of talent already at Pep Guardiola’s disposal.
